Default Is my bankroll chart right?

This is for NL and is based on a 20xbuyin theory.

Blinds - Max. Buyin - Min. Bankroll
.25/.50 - $50 - $1,000
.50/1 - $100 - $2,000
1/2 - $200 - $4,000
2/4 - $400 - $8,000
3/6 - $500 - $10,000
5/10 - $1,000 - $20,000
10/20 - $2,000 - $40,000

critique it.

uh, you've just multiplied buyins by 20...

If I was playing NL2000 I'd want more than 20 buyins...

quote from thabadguy:

I really dont think the rule of thumb of 20 buyins is accurate or a good guideline for any1.
I think the minimum ideal is the point when you dont care about playing correctly and not worry if u drop a few buyins.
It could be 8,10,15 or even 30 buyins.
That is something you have to decide.

This is what is recommended, not required. i moved to nl100 with 10 buyins because the players were a joke.

Joke or not, there's a huge reason for this most players don't understand. I used to secretly laugh at the people who say they need 30 or 50 buy ins to play certain games.

I've been beating 1/2 and 2/4 games for 6PTBB/100 for a month over 40k+ hands. WIthdrew some, things were good. This month, I'm down over 20 buy ins, playing seemingly the same game as before. I'd say 20 buy ins is the minimum if the money you're using to play poker is rather important to you.

To cruise through lower easier stakes that you feel you can handle with absolutely 0 problems, you may use 10 buy ins or so to move up quicker, but still that's risky, and the feeling of dominating can often be deceiving. You can be a mediocre player and running hot for 50K hands. Then you start breaking even or losing over the next 50k, and have NO idea what's happening.

For higher stakes, more is recommended. The higher the game is, the smaller your edge on the other plaeyrs, the higher the swings. You have my word

I keep close to the least amount possible on the poker sites. If you can 3 table a site I usually keep 5 buyins, and cash out everything over this once a week or even more if I am doing good. I do keep reserve money in my bank account just in case but this system has worked well for me overall.

The reasons for this?
1) If my roll swells to big I tend to play looser. This is something I am trying to work on. Every dollar counts though and no question when my roll swells my play changes a little.
2) If I go on tilt I can only lose 5 buyins. And will be forced to take a few days off playing poker as I am too cheap to pay the instacash fee.

I think a huge factor is how many BB/100 hands you are beating the game for

If you are killing the games at lower limits, and you have 10 full buyins at your current limit and 2 full buyins at the next highest limit, I recomend taking a shot at the next highlest limit. If you lose the 2 buyins, drop down.
