Default A few things online playing has done to help my B&M game

Figuring pot odds faster.

I'm more patient.

My reads of live opponents are better 10 fold.

and finally...

Before I started playing online 2 years ago I had this problem. When I played B&M, and got ahead by a good amount of chips, I'd start to loosen up and play more hands. I'd go from a 20/12 player to a 35/18 player. Sure enough, more often than not, I'd lose some chips, and tighten up again. Now, I play the same game throughout the session, just like online.

Just thought I'd share, thanks for listening.

Awesome. I still don't see how you can do it without various numbers of multiple colors floating over everyone's head.

I still have not been to Argosy, but I'm too tired most days after working on my dissertation to even think of going to a card room. You been yet?

I've played a lot of online between my last two visits to a casino and it was difficult for me to play live. Yes, I can calculate odds quicker and have a better feel for the game. But afte 3 and 4 tabling, the game seems SO SLOW live...

Playing online does give you lots of experience quickly. I was thinking about this a while back...if you 4 table and see 80hands/hr/tbl, you would see 2560 hands in an 8 hr session. At 30 hands/hr in a cardroom, you would have to play 8 hrs/day for for over 10 days to acquire the same "experience."

I play much more on-line than live as well. Had a question about figuring pot odds faster. The pot amount is always on the screen when on-line so I think when I play live trying to keep track of the bets in the pot would be harder not faster, no? I like live play much better though as it seems much easier to pick up tells. (all though I need a lot more practice).

20/12?

I'm buzzing around 21/8. Is "8" too low?

I would think that online play makes people "less" patient. I know that B&M play has made me more patient. Reading people is easier live, cause you can put remember a face better than a name like "Steve77".

I've noticed the same exact things except the part about being patient. Just the slow nature of B&M tends to lead me down the road of losing my patience. Luckily, there is always someone willing to chat it up a bit. Last B&M session I was at a table where the guy to my left played almost every hand but hated when people talked when he was playing (no, I was not talking to him while he played) regardless of the topic (mostly NCAA football). I wanted to keep him happy, so I just shut up most of the night with my words being limited to mostly raise, bet, and call. I did not mind though as I left up 40BB in about 3.5 hrs.

Back to patience.... Zulu, in what respect do you see this patience? Hand selection, action selection, etc???

Since you have so many more hands online then live, it makes live situations that much easier. IMO the best reason to play live is that most lower limit games are very soft. A competent player can play much higher live then online just based on skill level. (bankroll considerations apply here)

I hate counting bets. Live tells are great and handily make up for lack of stats.

I think he meant faster than before he played online. IOW, he figures pot odds quicker at the B&M cardrooms now than he used to figure them at the B&M cardrooms. I'm pretty sure he didn't mean that he figures them quicker at the B&M than online.
