I played on the 1986 NAIA National Champs (Flagler College) and then played professionally soradically for two years, mostly in satellite events (sort of the tennis minor leagues). But NO player who is "sporadically" playing futures/satellites today even gets a whiff at playing say, Lleyton Hewitt, much less beat him.

Not that I don't believe you. Not that either of us care if I don't. Just saying that a sporadic futures player isn't beating #4 in the world in today's game.
