Winner asks to see loser's hand. Is the hand live?

The dealer is correct, but he probably should have called the floor after this happened rather than arguing with the player himself. Most dealers would say something like, "Are you sure, his hand is still live if I turn it over" upon hearing this request from the pot winner. But anyway, what he said is correct...if the winner requests, hand is live, if another player requests, hand is tapped dead.
