Rake and playing limit (no strategy, just observation)
I was looking over my whole stats the other day in PT and I never realized how much money a player loses just from rake.
OMG its like 2 BB per 100, more in lower games. I knew that a high rake affected the game but I didnt realize how much till I paid attention. I guess in private ring games good players "rake" in the dough, no pun intended. I believe the online casinos charge 5% rake? At the indian's casino they charge 10% +$1 for jackpot +$1 you tip them (max $3 rake). In a $30 pot you're losing like $5. No wonder you can't win. Id love to play in a no rake limit game. |

Re: Rake and playing limit (no strategy, just observation)
Yeah the rake is something more people should really consider when playing the lower limit games.
It's amazing how the dynamics of a game can change throughout the night and take a winning player *one who's beating the rake* and turn him/her into a losing player...all it takes is removing just a couple of fish who are feeding the pots and replacing them with some marginal break even to winning players. This just emphasizes once again how important table/game selection is at all times. |
