Re: folded $6000 pot for $400 on river.
Explain to me how you built a $6k pot on $2/$5 PL Omaha with just those raises.
I think this was play money as well... |

[ QUOTE ]
$400 for $6000 is 15:1, so if you called and lost 15 times; all it takes for you to break even on that $400 bet is winning 1 time. (the money youve put in the pot is already gone). if you fold on the end that money will NEVER be yours. [/ QUOTE ] Exactly. This is a textbook example of the "big mistake" that Sklansky talks about. |

Re: folded $6000 pot for $400 on river.
I make it more like $3000 or $4000. Maybe there was a straddle or a reraise preflop? That would account for it.

Re: folded $6000 pot for $400 on river.
I don't understand this post at all... anyone who plays CASH games at this limit would never lay this hand down for a 4 to 1 or maybe even 3 to 1 pot odds. 15 to 1... WTF... are you kidding me.
3 possible explanations... You're lying... It was play money... You're a trust fund baby that watches to much TV poker and I would like to gracefully invite you to my home game. |

Re: folded $6000 pot for $400 on river.
this was real money. happend a couple years ago.
don't you guys care about the logic here? how the hell can a guy call a massive reraise with the second nut and no draws in 5 card omaha? then go all in for $400 into a $6000 pot at the end when the flush hits. and i had no clubs in my hand. i value logic highly in my game. it seemed asinine to put in $400 more. (of course i would have won) but the play seemed soooo stupid for me at the time. what an illogical call and bet for the other guy!!! |

Re: folded $6000 pot for $400 on river.
I'm just saying... do you really play $5K Pot limit games and don't understand the catastrophy of folding any pot that is laying you 15 to 1?
I just think you and your friends are either playing a little out of your league... or money has little value. |
