Hero ($688.35)
UTG ($704.10)

Preflop: Hero is BB with A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], K[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]. SB posts a blind of $3.
UTG raises to $18, 2 folds, Hero calls $12.

Flop: ($39) 9[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 5[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (2 players)
Hero checks, UTG bets $22, Hero raises to $100, UTG calls $78.

Flop: having concealed the strength of my hand preflop, the top pair gives me a much stronger hand than my opponent is likely to expect. Combine this with the fact that he is aggressive, and I am already thinking about getting all in. If the turn is a scare card [a heart, or maybe Q/J/T], it might slow me down.

Turn: ($239) 6[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (2 players) Hero bets $325, UTG pushes, Hero calls.

Turn: it was not a scare card. I know my hand is not the nuts, but I am still thinking I want to be all in here.
However effective stack is still a little over 2x the pot, so I settle for a mild overbet.

What do you think of my thought process? Is my hand good enough to take a stand like I did, given that my opponent is aggressive?

Given that I decided to take a stand, what about the way I went about it?

Its not a bad play, its not a good play. It is very read dependent. The problem is here the only hand you beat here in my opinion is A with a weak kicker. If he is lag he could be raising with anything. Very likely have 2 pair on this hand. Dont put a small set out of the question. Like I said it is a marginal decision and it is difficult to fold this hand.

Given that you only have about $240 left, and are getting about 4:1, I think you should call.

Bet 150 and fold. I don't understand why you want to overbet the pot and make it easy on him to outplay you.

Because he is so aggressive I am thinking there is every chance he will push with a worse hand -- weaker ace, flush draw, etc.

If this is your read I would prefer to bet the flop. If he raises you can just c/r allin on the turn. I still don't like overbetting the turn unless he is terrible, if you feel he can play back at you with worse hands make it easier for him and bet closer to the pot 3/4 maybe like I said, then you can call allin if you really feel he is capable of pushing worse hands.

Interesting -- if I want him to push, why discourage it by betting big? I can see that . . .
