Re: A Hand from last nights Stars $215
I'm okay with that. (but generally means not limited to...) But I have no problem from refraining from calling trips a set if you do not have a pocket pair. sorry your post kind of got hijacked Jonathan.

Re: A Hand from last nights Stars $215
I usually raise here. The problem with your call/raise turn line is that it announces to your opponent that you have trips (maybe AA), and the board gives a decent amount of hands in his range a draw.
Edit: Also, on the river, you're basically WA/WB, so I just call. |

I read the opponent as aggressive, which is why
I chose to smooth call the flop. I was confident he would come out betting the turn as he did. I could put in a big raise on the flop and probably drive him out, but against an aggressive player with this flop, I don't think that is the right line. Perhaps I could raise more on the turn but in this case it would not have mattered. Opponent turned over T9o for the turned straight and I was out. Thanks for the responses. Suerte, Jonathan |

Re: A Hand from last nights Stars $215
haven't read....
i'd make it 200 pre-flop. i'd raise the flop. you're going to get all-in against a hand like 99 right now, but if big cards come it will kill your actions. also there's a decent chance he has a gutshot and won't put in another chip if he doesn't hit. as soon as you call the flop, if he's not dumb he will shut down. the turn bet is an awkard size. i want a bigger raise to deny draws, but unfortunately that pc's us. so i guess your raise is fine, b/c i don't want to push or make an obviously committing bet. i'd just call the river. we're now behind all Qx's except KQ, we're behind every possible pocket pair except KK. you're behind more often than not, so i don't want to put an extra money in. |

To me a bet of half your stack on the turn isn't all that strong of a reraise and if I'm villain and holding anything that matches the board I might look you up here with a call thinking just that [/ QUOTE ] if villain wants to call with A8/AJ/98/77/99, i'm willing to let him call a ~half-pot raise with 0-6 outs. |
