Calling a Raise in the BB with suited Junk
Like most of us, I don't like losing money with crap hands. A dilemma many of us face is whether to call a raise with suited crap hands in the BB with several people already in.
My question is what is the minimum number of players in the pot you require before you call a raise in the BB with suited crap. |

Re: Calling a Raise in the BB with suited Junk
by suited junk, i'm assuming you mean like 92 or 10-4. do you think you're ever going to show a profit long term playing these hands from OOP? No. What are you giving up by folding them? Nothing. In fact, I think it is +ev to fold hands like 8 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]2 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] PF. Hell, I know it is.

7:1 from the BB for 72s.

Re: Calling a Raise in the BB with suited Junk
a huge factor is how likely someone already in is likely to overplay his hand top pair over pair stuff like that.
also another huge factor is how deep your stack is. If it's at a site that has a 50BB buyin and you've gone down to 40BB if you hit your flush and someone has a bigger one so be it. If it's a 100BB buyin and you built it up to 200BB I'd be wary with a middling flush |

Re: Calling a Raise in the BB with suited Junk
There is certainly a point when calling with anytwo suited is profitable. With 4 players in the pot getting 9.5:1 immediate odds and closing the action I would call anytwo.

hey stox
so, if you're the BB, and it's raised, and you're getting 4.5-1 to call, you'd call with 7-2 suited?
Then i guess if you were the button, you'd call with 7-2 suited if you were getting 7-1 to call? I seriously doubt you're calling with 7-2 suited getting 7-1 on your call even if the button is in front of you, so why would you want to call OOP for less odds? ???????? |

Re: hey stox
IF the pot is raised and there are 4 people in it, you are getting 9.5:1, assuming you are closing the actoin, which means the first one in the pot is the raiser.
In that specific case I would call. on the button with 6 people in front of you in for 1 bet it is likely +EV to call with anytwo suited, but you are not closing the action, and I'm not sure if it has ever come up for me. |

Re: hey stox
either way...would you say the +ev in these situations is largely dependent on how well you play the hand, and that for average or mediocre players this play would actually be -ev?
