a free showdown hand
This is a good Borgata 10/20 game, mostly passive, most people suck.
UTG limps, I overlimp in emp with A [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]3 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], button limps, blinds play. Flop A [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]Q [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]2 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] SB (who plays draws aggressively, and just generally likes betting but calls way too much and isn't very good at saving bets or squeezing bets) bets, BB folds, UTG folds, I call, button calls. Turn: 5 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], SB limps, I raise... |

Re: a free showdown hand
Why not just raise the flop for value and to get it HU with the LAG?

Re: a free showdown hand
He's not a lag. He has a hand when he bets, be it a piece of the board or a draw.

But there's still a good chance you're ahead of him, right?

Re: a free showdown hand
I like the raise because Button is still in the hand, he has 0-4 outs, and theres now 5 BBs in the pot. If it were HU I like calling better since its likely SB will continue betting the river and if we raise the turn we have to fold our draw.

I think a raise on the flop would not only maximize your chances of winning the hand (the button would be forced to fold), but would also save you 1/2 BB over the course of the hand if you don't improve (you will probably see the turn for free). |

[/ QUOTE ] Getting three-bet would indeed suck, but doesn't it at least give you the information you need to know you are beaten and should fold? Doesn't getting three-bet on the turn suck even more? What hand correctly cold calls a raise in this situation? |
