Re: 55: i hate jacks!!
I'm going to raise him here, he sure didn't raise pf with 45, I think you're ahead. |

Re: 55: i hate jacks!!
If you are this scared of flopping an overpair you should really ask yourself if poker is the right game for you.

Re: 55: i hate jacks!!
I think some people are going to call me crazy, but with no reads I fold this 100% of the time. Good luck against QQ+.

Re: 55: i hate jacks!!
He's overplaying the hand. Most people overplay AK and underplay KK/AA (and usually QQ on that flop). Push. A check-raise all-in is perfect here.

Re: 55: i hate jacks!!
There is some seriously questionable advice in this thread;
- If you're scared of overpairs don't play poker? - Check fold flop? - Check raise all-in (this lets villain play very well, although we're getting better)? What about addressing the pf limp and the flop check? I really don't like the limp preflop, but people have been talking alot about doing precisely that lately. Certainly would be easier to play this hand had you raised. If you are going to have no idea what to do if the flop goes check - bet, which it will alot, then bet out here. If you get lots of action you can fold, if you're called you can re-evaluate, and there's nothign wrong with taking it down. While check-raising may get more out of overcards, you risk giving free cards, and you are pretty much committing yourself in a spot where most villains are going to be able to play perfectly against you (i.e. drop worse hands, stack you with better ones). Obviously not perfectly, but well. So I raise pf and I lead the flop for about 2/3. |
