Big Slick hits on the flop
100NL, FTilt, 9 handed.
Stacks: BB - $80 SB, Pos 1-Pos 6 - not relevant Hero (button) - $120 Hero dealt: A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] K[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] Fold to Hero. Raise $4. Called from BB. Flop: A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] K[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] Q[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] SB bets $5, Hero raises to $10, SB reraises to $15. What would you do here? Turn 9[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] What would you do if SB continues to bet? |

Re: Big Slick hits on the flop
All this mini-raising has me confused.
Raise the flop harder. As played, by the turn, I just try to get to showdown. It looks like villan has a strong hand with all the mini-raising. |

Re: Big Slick hits on the flop
How much would you like to pay for the show down?
Is callin $20 and $30 bets on the turn and the river is about right (or close to right) play? I can't see myself raising after the action on the flop, but having trouble laying this hand down either (cause of possible KQ, AQ and AK). |

[/ QUOTE ] The good news is that you hit the flop about as well could be expected, and its unlikely that you're facing a set since all those hands would probably have raised. However, this is a vulnerable flop for you. No reads provided on villain, but with both straight and flush draws on the board, you don't want to be seeing more cards. To give villain 2.2:1 on a draw, you would need to raise to at least $20, although more would be better (I would probably bet at least $25 here, which gives him 1.9:1). If villain then comes over the top on a PSB flop raise, then it becomes a question of either folding or pushing, and that is mostly a function of your reads. |

Re: Big Slick hits on the flop
I agree with raising the flop harder. It would help to define his hand.
That said, I think he likes his hand too much on the flop for a flush draw without the ace. I'd be expecting a reraise pre-flop with AA, KK, QQ, though they you can't rule out a trap out of the blinds. The hand I'd be most worried about is JT. Behind :- 16 x JT 3x3 sets (1/3 weighting?) 9x K flush (1/3 weighting?) 21 ways Ahead :- 6 x AQ 6 x KQ 12 ways to be ahead The pot has $40 on the turn? If you figure it's going to cost more than $50 to see a showdown I'd fold. |

Re: Big Slick hits on the flop
Eugh, horrible hand.
Firstly and like everyone has said, raise the flop to at least 15, its just a better all round bet. Good news BBs preflop play suggests he doesn't have a set BBs flop play suggests he doesn't have a flush BB could have Ax/KQ/AQ all of which you beat BBs moronic raising suggests he's not a great player. Bad news BBs min raising suggests his hand is very strong BB could easily have JT Wieghting it up I'd call down anything reasonable (pot or less) on the turn and river. I'd be pissed if I was shown JT but I still think its the correct move. |

Re: Big Slick hits on the flop
JT is exactly what I was worried about at this point. I kinda agree with idea raising harder for the information.
Question is what info I will get from raising to $25 exept his possible fold? Still can be called or even raised by KQ or AQ. Is there a way to lay this hand down after possible following action (except of all in reraise)? Speaking about reads - player I was facing played very solid . |

Re: Big Slick hits on the flop
JT was exactly prime suspect.
But I was not ruling out a trap - he was BB with only one player to the pot. |

How I played it.
I called $5 reraise on the flop (pot ~$40).
On the turn he bet $20, I called it. (pot $100) River was a low card, keeping the board the same - 3 diamonds, with AKQ. He bet $30, I called it (pot $160). He had QQ and took the pot. The last hand that beats me I expected to see. I suspected AA or KK more than QQ, cause those are much better for slow play. |

I'd expect at least a call with any of the hands we are talking about. However, if you get a reraise or a substantial bet on the turn after you raised him hard... I'd be thinking fold. Bad luck with the result though. I agree QQ was the least likely. |
