With the turn raise you gotta bet river. AJ, AT, [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] will fold most of the time.

Just raise the flop and bet every street and hope he folds at some point.

Since I am getting so many different responses, and not everyone likes to chime in with a post, I figure I will make it easy with a poll.

"Raise the flop, bet the turn, check the river" is the worst fcking line out of any.

It's sad to see people voting for it (by voting for the 1st or 4th option - which are the exact same), yet at the same time .... it's reassuring.

Your opponent might be on a straight draw or hit a low flush. It's very possible that he's playing low suited connectors. In either case, I think you should bet on the river. You're investing $6 to win $54 (assuming he calls, and including your river bet). That's 9:1 pot odds. I think you should bet.

If we are betting the river, we are doing so to try to get a better hand to fold so we can win the pot, while not giving away a BB too often when we are behind.

Sometimes he will have:
AJ, A9 (with either card being a diamond) or AT, A6, A5, A4, A3, A2 (with the ace being a diamond) and will fold to our bet.

Other times he will have:
AA, JJ, 99, AQ, QJ, QT, Q9, Q8, Q7, and will call our bet.

Note: there are other possibilities out there, but I am trying to simplify things as much as possible.

Out of the better hands we get to fold, there are 30 combinations, and we win (7(1-x) - x)*30 or 210-240x BB (x is % of time he calls).

Out of the better hands that call, there are 78 combinations, and we lose a total of 78 BB.

Almost any other hand he has doesn't matter as he will fold, and we would win by checking anyways.

So if 210-240x-78>0, our play is EV+. X needs to be .55, or he has to fold 45% of the time or more with the hands I gave for this play to be EV+.

Any errors in my math? Do you think my assumptions of the situation are roughly ok? If so, do you think he will fold this often with his A high hands? So finally, are you betting this river?

I haven't read the other replies so as not to dilute my answer.

I say 3 bet PF, and bet/raise the flop.

W/ no PF raise: I raise the flop, and hope for a free card on the turn.

Your line: I dont know if a river bet is in order, w/o reads... but I dont like how you played the hand.
