it disguises our hand quite well and generates MUCH more FE [/ QUOTE ] I think he will see the turn much more often when you raise the flop than when you cap preflop, so if you have more FE itīs because you bet the turn too. People dont like folding for one more on the flop if they put the last action in preflop, it looks weak. |

edit: something i forgot to add. it widens your range a LOT compared to just calling. so it makes it harder to read your hand and makes him more likely to see a showdown when you raise etc. [/ QUOTE ] eh? I assume you meant capping. |

no. 2. i think i could usually get to showdown cheaper this way if i wanted. i also think opponent folds the turn a significant amount of the time if i want to bet.

Like TStone mentions, "typical" is a hard definition.
I probably take line 2, 'cause I think it has more FE (depending on the player). If he's never giving up on the flop, I might go with option 1. |

Not sure if there is a big difference between the 2 choices. Without reading any previous responses I'll say cap preflop w/position.

#2 and I don't think it's close. It will get a free card more often and generate more folding equity. Suppose the flop comes AKQ. If your opponent has 66-JJ, he will almost certainly fold. Use scary flops to push people off their hands. Most players will call on the flop with any 2 in example 1.

[/ QUOTE ] hes not folding to a flop raise with JJ-TT considering he has a gutshot. if you cap preflop and the flop comes AKQ then 66 is folding anyway. |
