I bought that cassette 15 years ago. What were most of you guys in this thread, 3 or 5 years old? [/ QUOTE ] 16... my parents were less than impressed. This place always makes me feel older than I normally do. I'm a really old man here. BTW, 15 years ago? Did you wait for a used copy to show up or something? |

Re: NWA - Straight Outta Compton
Either my favorite or second favorite album of all time (along with Biggie's Ready To Die). Played it every day on the ride to and from work over the summer. Nothing quite like blasting "Fuck tha Police" as a squad car pulls up next to you.
"I Aint tha 1" is classic. As is "Dopeman." "Yo, Mr. Dopeman, you think you're slick. You sold crack to my sister, and now she's sick. But if she happen to die because of your drug, I'm putting in your culo a .38 slug." Edit: "That's my life, that's how it's cut." ("Hey Dopeman!") "Bitch shut the fuck up!" |

"I Ain't Tha 1" is one of my favorite songs ever. [/ QUOTE ] Definitely, Gangsta Gangsta was always one of my favorites too. It's good to see this is getting more discussion...although, maybe it is true, people are too young to remember it? On a similar note, went to the Audioslave show at the Patriot Center last week. It was a kick ass show. How it relates to this thread, when they played Soundgarden songs a lot of people sat down. When Chris played Temple of the Dog (yeah, he went there and it was awesome) barely anyone knew what was happening. But, I really didn't think Soundgarden was dated yet! TOTD might be a little more dated but come on, you're at a show with Chris Cornell. |

Re: NWA - Straight Outta Compton
I don't think any thread mentioning the merits of NWA can go on without discussing Eazy E's "Eazy-Duz-It". I think Eazy E's album came out first, both are classics. Kinda like Godfather 1 & 2 of gangsta rap (lol).
"Keepin' niggaz in line, whoever f*cks with his rhyme, and before you f*ck with him, you gotta f*ck with his nine. Not scared to pull the trigger on a punk ass nigga, that thinks he could whoop his ass cause he's bigger. Size don't mean sh*t, he's from the old school fool, he's a villain from the streets, and he's supposed to rule, Not sayin' he's da sh*t, but he's down for mine, he was put on the streets to keep niggaz in line." Ahh pure poetry I always wanted one of those Compton hats lol dizong |

Re: NWA - Straight Outta Compton
I was going to be Eazy E for Halloween. I even got the Compton hat, but I was too lazy to find a jerry curl wig.
By the way, if you want a Compton hat, they sell them at all the souvenir shops on Venice Beach. I guess they got a lot of German and Japanese tourists who wanted to look like the E. |
