Default Home games suck

I used to like playing in home games and tournaments. Now I can't stand it. Playing on the internet I can crank out 300+ hands/hr. In a casino with good dealers and competent players everything moves at a decent pace. But home games are just too damn slow. It only takes one or two ppl talking too much or not paying attention to bring things to a crawl. I've tried to get folks to speed things up but its useless, and everybody gets tired of me saying "please hurry". I used to enjoy home parties but I think those days are over.

Sigh... BB

At this point I go to home games more to socialize than anything else. Granted i could make more online in the 3-4 hours that i'm playing but you can't lock yourself in your house and only play online poker all day. can you ??

I agree, your not going to get quiet fast paced action at a home game. Most are thrown as more of a social event than a serious sit down and play. I think multi table home tournies are fairly decent as you usually end up with a bunch people that don't know each other sometimes and the chatter (while still there) is alot less than a regular home single table game.

It depends on your motivation for playing- if you want to play for social purposes/getting to know the guys/etc, then homegames are fine.

Furthermore, if you are playing poker solely for money purposes, obviously online/casino play is more profitable. Thats not to say that homegames aren't profitable, only that the ammount of hands will be much lower than professional playing.

I get a lot of business from the players I meet in a bi-weekly home game. Directly and referrals from players. You gotta socialize now and again man.
