Posting behind the botton
I'm sure this has been discussed many times before but I can't seem to find anything using the search feature.
Can someone direct me to a good thread on this subject? And can anyone quickly just state the overall conclusions, say for a 30/60 game? TIA |

Re: Posting behind the botton
It's better than taking the blind, IMO.

1 hand for 1 SB vs. 4 hands for 1.5 SB's. What am I missing? [/ QUOTE ] Two of those hands are from the worst positions at the table. That said, I usually just post the blind in the normal spot, unless i feel particularly impatient and ready to start. I think that the EV is pretty close to neutral between the choices. --dan |

Re: Posting behind the botton
I dont like coming in BB because of the position. It isn't a huge strategical advantage, and IMO it's no different than posting behind the button.
I prefer to post behind. Nothing magical about it, Nigel, just my preference. |

Re: Posting behind the botton
I got schooled by Ed Miller on this topic. He correctly pointed out to me that posting behind the button in a 10-handed game gives you 7 games for 1 SB before you post the blinds, and you have good position for the time you're posting. Whereas normal posting in big blind means you get 10 games for 1.5 BB, including the lousy blind positions. So post behind for best results.

Re: Posting behind the botton
I post whenever I have the chance, but I would never pass on the blinds in order to post.
It appears I make slightly more in those 4 positions total than I do when I post in the CO, plus I get 4 hands of rakeback. |

Re: Posting behind the botton
I know some people who think it would be very profitable to program a bot that posts in the CO and sits out when the blinds come, goes to another table and repeats.

Re: Posting behind the botton
most pple lose $ in blinds and win most in the button, how is it not +ev to skip unprofitable forced position and always post behind blinds. SO wat if u miss some hands, those are the least profitable hands
