Why not bet the turn? Most pocket pairs are paying off although it does get me into a deep predicament if he c/r's me.

This board is not friendly for semibluffs. And it's an infrequent opponent that just ass-out bluffs this board.

another point to make is that this guy is pretty tight and pretty passive. he probably called the flop with a piece--and there were no draws on the board either.

You stand to lose 2 extra bets if you bet and call down a CR vs an A. You stand to miss 1 bet if you check behind on the turn against a lower pair. Do you really think you're winning twice as often as you're losing here?

bet/call turn. check behind river. anything else is not even close. This was actually an easy hand to play but you made it harder on yourself by betting the river. Once you do bet the river I think you should fold.
