Question about chopping blinds

Generally when there are few people in the hand and you are in the blinds, many people like to keep the pot small and the house out of the hand via rake on the pot.

As the SB didn't ask you if you wanted to chop, I wouldn't think twice raising as SB thought he could gamble a little on your money.

Did they know you were new to the table? They may have been playing with you...train 'em early.
