Default Dual SIM Cards

My company is about to join a corporate mobile phone plan, and supply a couple of dozen employees with phones. The choice of phones does not include any models that I particularly like, and I have a Treo 650 that I'd just as soon use all the time.

There's an electronics store nearby that advertises these dual SIM cards, where they read your SIM cards and write the data to a new card which allows you to use Line 1 for one number and Line 2 for the other, even if they are from different providers.

Anybody know if that's a safe procedure, and does it work as advertised?
