Default Let\'s say hypothetically you have A7 suited on the button...

...and you limp after 5 players limp. SB and BB see the flop.

Flop: 7SB
Q 7 2

SB bets, all call, you raise. All call again. Do you raise here for equity? You have 20% chance of making two pair or trips by the river, and there are 7 players in. Is this a value raise?

Turn: 10BB
Q 7 2 5

All check to you. What reasons do you have to "bet"? Do you think you have the best hand? What do you put the other players on? Is this pot too big to give away a free card? or will a free card improve your chances of winning the pot? What reasons can you argue for "checking"?

I'll give my thoughts afterwards... Any thoughts on this?

I don't raise the flop unless I'm going for a free card.

I wouldn't raise the flop either, but given that you did, I would take the free card on the turn. While you are getting better than 8:1 on your draw on the flop, you are not guaranteed to take the pot down if you hit your hand. Add a flush draw to your hand and I'd raise in a second. This game seems very passive, and you probably have the original bettor beat, but there's no guarantees on the remainder of the players. I would take my free card here and try to improve. In large pots, your goal should be to win the pot, and I think taking your free card gives you the best chance to do so.

What about suits? Backdoor draws I still don't raise, but nut 4 flush plus mid pair I raise it up. Assuming a rainbow board: The times when you don't have an equity advantage to make raising profitable, you are often getting 3 bet.

raise preflop.

there are 8 players on the flop.

posting this hand without suits is simply ridiculous.

given that i dont know suits, i suspect your raise is for value, just probably not for you.
