$30/$60 Stud high: Headsup with Carlos
Third player had just left the table. I had been hoping to get the table to fill up, but instead it was dying.
As you might imagine, Carlos is super aggressive and tricky. Oh, weird structure at this site: $3 ante, $15 bring-in. So "cchadha" brings it in for $15 with the two of hearts showing. I have (Qs 3h)Qd and complete, he raises and I raise back, he calls. Pot is $185 ($1 rake). 4th I bet he calls. 5th I bet he raises. Pot is $425 before I respond to this. Carlos : (XX) 2 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 6 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 4 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] Me: (Q [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 3 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]) Q [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 4 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 9 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] Call or reraise? More to come... |

Call down. A better player may fold the river unimproved. Then I would find another table.

I think you should call. You're looking at buried kings or aces with this betting pattern the vast majority of the time.

If his board wasn't so crappy I would say raise, but there is no way he is doing this as a semi bluff so calling down is best.

How bad would folding be?

Re: $30/$60 Stud high: Headsup with Carlos
Heads up, getting 7-1, I'm calling down. One, I can draw out on two pair (being against trips woule blow but I doubt it). Plus, if he pairs on 6th you can (I believe) comfortable fold. On the river, if I hit two pair, I am betting (you might not even be raised by aces up, though since it's Carlos you probably will). Then he will order you pizza. Oh wait, that's his home game.

What do you think of calling the river UI?
This is HU and Carlos in known to be very aggressive. I feel like this would be the most interesting decision of the hand. AKA is Carlos blowing smoke here 1 in (~8 times?). I'd call it, I wouldn't be happy about it though. Is this bad? |

Re: $30/$60 Stud high: Headsup with Carlos
I probably would call UI against him on the river because he can be very aggressive. But I'd be pretty sure I was losing.

Part 2
Ok, I called on 5th. I thought there was a good chance he had aces or kings down, though I was less sure than you all that he didn't have trips. It seemed close but in headsup situations I tend to call down if it's close so...
On 6th: Carlos: (XX)246A Me: (Q3)Q496 Suits unimportant. He bet. Should I consider folding now? I called. 7th I catch a 9 for 2 pair, he bet and I called. |
