Re: best film EVER...
Bozo, don't dis the all time classic. If you have to pick the greatest, this one makes sense because of its technical innovations, universal story and resounding impact to this day. It is extremely rare to have a film so absorbing. And I love great cinematography.

I should have known such an outlandish statement could be nothing but sarcasm. CHL is in my top three.

Oh God, I just threw up. How anyone could say that is beyong this film student. [/ QUOTE ] Gee, two votes combined for the movies I mentioned. My point was that OOT isn't full of full of film students trying to impress people with their knowledge of esoteric crap. |

Re: best film EVER...
They are all fascinating. I love the cinematography and feel of the "Fearless Vampire Killers" and "Macbeth" is great in a brutal way. The scene which always strikes me is the withces showing Macbeth his future lineage in the cauldron. Polanski is the master of putting dream like scenes into film.
And I am fortunate to have a Revue Cinema in my city which allows me to watch these films in the best available prints. |

Re: best film EVER...
LOL.
I liked Rules of the Game too, but for me it didn't have the same impact. I'm nuts for Boudu Saved from Drowning. It's one of my favorite films. I think many people still think Brian DePalma invented the baby carriage scene. Btw, Nights of Cabiria is also a personal favorite, as is L'Atalante. And the original Beauty and the Beast will never stop knocking my socks off. |

Re: best film EVER...
Fair enough, now you have my reasoning. So, what is your favourite again? "Gigli"? "Autumn in New York"? "Secrets of the YaYa Sisterhood"?

[ QUOTE ] Couldn't possibly be more wrong. I'm amazed anyone could even have written the post you responded to, much less agreed with it. [/ QUOTE ] Time to take your sarcasm detector to the shop. CHL is my favorite movie. [/ QUOTE ] Ah. Too deadpan for my detector I guess. Flew in under the radar. |

I think MacBeth is an incredibly great story, and don't mind seeing different versions of it. |
