What\'s a \"Donk bet?\"
Not a trick question. Just a newbie.

Re: What\'s a \"Donk bet?\"
There should be a FAQ on this.
You bet flop, your opponent calls. The turn comes and they bet out into you. It's a donkbet or gaybet. |

Re: What\'s a \"Donk bet?\"
someone bets the flop. You're on the button (or elsewhere where you have position on him) and raise him. He calls. Turn card comes, and he bets out again. That is a donk bet.

Re: What\'s a \"Donk bet?\"
A donk bet is action that goes check-call-bet. I.e., Villain checks and calls the flop, and bets out on the turn. Many people confuse this with bet-call-bet, which is a stop & go. Hero bets the flop, gets raised, calls, and bets out on the turn again.

Oh, I always thought a stop 'n' go was part donk bet. Ok then, now I know better!

A donk bet is action that goes check-call-bet. [/ QUOTE ] Why would a player do this? If they were slowplaying the flop (like if they made a set), wouldn't they check-raise the turn? I imagine "donk" is a rather derogatory term, huh? |

Re: What\'s a \"Donk bet?\"
Donk = Fish.
I donkbet in a limit tourney last night. I had KT and raised, got 3-bet preflop. Flop was T2T. I check-called, then bet the turn, hoping I would get raised by an overpair so I could 3-bet. My opponent called down with AK-high. |
