Ax in the BB - 3 way pots
This is a question for AX (UNSUITED) in multiway pots, not heads up.
A few weeks ago I asked some of the forums best players about there blind play, One of my questions was: 1)UTG or MP limps, CO raises, folded to you in BB for a possible 3 way pot, lowest Ax you call? Answers ranged from AJ-A7 Then I asked: 2)2 limpers and a raiser, im in bb in possible 4 way pot, lowest Ax you call? Answers ranged:AT-A5, most common answer was AT I normally play AT in both cases, fold the rest. However I was reading Internet Holdem poker by Matthew Hilger and he recommends calling as low as A8o, My question is how low do you go GENERALLY with your AX in 3 way pots, and what influences your decision, which are autofolds? Like I said, I fold any lower than AT, Im going to try playing A9/8 more often, However Ive checked my database from my fish days and A7 and A6 were very good winners in 3 way pots, with 5-6 players at the table. A7-A2 were very poor 4 way pot or more. These were from $1/$2 and $2/$4 |

Re: Ax in the BB - 3 way pots
Axo doesn't feel like a good hand in this kind of possisions, you can never really hit a flop. I play ATo in thease kind of situations but going lower than A9-A7 might be slightly ev but its a very tricky possision when you cannot hit a 'good' flop and are out of possion.
But assuming that the postflop qualitys at lower limit would be worse you might be able to play lower AXo but on the other hand at lower limits you have lower pfr. So depending on how they affect eacother maybee you could play some more AXo in aggr preflop games. My thougts are mostly that its slightly +ev, if its not -ev, and you will find yourself in many hard possiosons. ATo is where i have my comfortlevel |

Internet Holdem poker by Matthew Hilger and he recommends calling as low as A8o, [/ QUOTE ] Actually he says call 1 late raise, or fold, so not really relevant, However feel free to comment on the other aspects of the post |
