Party 3/6. Laggy UTG raises, tightish (18/7/1.4 60 hands) button 3 bets. I have AJs in the BB. Play this?
Thanks |

Nope. An 18/7/1.4 is probably not that sophisticated a player (agg. numbers are too low), and hence I doubt this is an isolation move. Laggy villain UTG still might have a decent hand. The chance you are dominated is huge, you aren't getting enough action to merit playing your hand for straight or flush potential, and you are out of position.

Hi Will-
I understand why this is a fold as there's just two others players. I'm interested in the theory here for big, multiway pots. Let's say there were cold-callers between the LAG and the button. How many cold callers would you need to turn this fold into a cap, per Ed Miller's example? Also, if the LAG was in the CO and made this play and then the button 3-bet, would you be more inclined to call on the BB? |

Thanks. I did fold this hand for many of the reasons mentioned. I'm wondering the same thing as Happy now too. How many people would you want in this pot to call or cap? I think at least 2 more, maybe 3.
