Losing initiative with KK
I get K[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] K[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] in MP.
The action is folded to me and I raise. The button ( very loose with average aggro) cold calls. The SB(unknown) and BB (rock) both call. 4 to the flop for 8SB. The flop come 4[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 6[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 9[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] The action is checked to me. I bet. Button raises. SB check-reraises. BB calls. I call(!). Button caps. 4 of us to the turn for 12BB The turn is J[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]. SB checks. BB checks. I check(!). Button bets. SB check-raises. BB folds. I call (!). Button 3-bets. SB calls. I call(!). 3 of us to the river for 21BB's. The river is Q[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] SB checks. I check. Button bets. SB calls. I fold. This hand was really tough for me to let go of. I think I should have folded much earlier than I did (probably the turn C/R) but I'm not sure where or if that's even correct. At the time since SB was unknown I could see him on a flush draw or top pair top kicker. The turn Check raise seemed like he was trying to protect his hand so I assumed there was a decent chance I was ahead of him. I was reasonably sure I was behind to button but he might have had a PP lower than mine or two pair. The turn was just awful and I feel like I completely lost control and hung around for a snowball's chance in hell. I really hate it when this happens. How do you guys play this hand? |

Re: Losing initiative with KK
So why didn't you 3-bet the flop?

So why didn't you 3-bet the flop? [/ QUOTE ] SB did that. My bet would've been a cap. I guess I should have capped but the check-3-bet spooked me. *Grumble* |

Re: Losing initiative with KK
You absolutely have to call the river.
I cap the flop and bet the turn if checked to. Then, if I get raised and reraised, I will strongly consider folding. Edit: Certainly looks like we're up against a set. |
