Default 1st weekend in December Flamingo-Vegas

My buddy is going to a conference at the Flamingo in Vegas. I basically get to hide in his closet for free room for the week.

I have never been to Vegas.

My friend if you can believe doesn't drink and doesn't gamble. He plans on seeing alot of shows. How much do average shows cost in Vegas?

Is there a good map to vegas listing the locations of the Casnions?

Where would be a decent place to play 4/8, 5/10 or 6/12 limit near or at the Flamingo?

You will like the atmosphere and action of the 4-8 at Bellagio (directly across the street). Mirage has 3-6, 6-12. Many casinos have small rooms (Ballys, Flamingo, Paris, Imperial Palace, Harrahs...these are on your side of the street walking distance. All have low limits). MGM has a room, as do others. Bellagio and Mirage are the big boys, but since you are playing low and have a week, check out as many rooms as possible.

Go to allvegaspoker.com. All you will need to know is there. For shows, go see Cirque Du Soleil, they have four different shows, I have seen three of them and would recommend "O" at Bellagio, Mystere at Treasure Island and Ka at MGM, in that order. You should go see one of them too, if you have never seen cirque. They are not cheap though, about $100 a person.

Go with Jeffage's suggestion for poker, Bellagio is great and its across the street. Mirage is not far either if you want to play as low as $3-6 or if you want some $10-20. Bellagio goes to $8-16 and then $15-30. Bally's opened a room a while ago, lots of fish and lower limits, its also across the street. In fact, poker is everywhere now, but you won't go wrong just playing at Bellagio.

Enjoy!

Very nice, dreq, have fun. Jeffage and NoRiverRats give some good advice. Bally's is a real nice choice, always has tourists, fast drink service, you should be able to find a 3/6 game. Plus if you go back to Flamingo before 5 AM then in between at the Barbary Coast you can get a nice cheap breakfast.

As for shows, there is a wide range of prices. The Cirque shows recommended are very good, but will cost around an average of $95 a ticket.

If your buddy likes magic, I would also recommend Lance Burton. He's a cheaper ticket at around $65, and the show is quite good. If he has any time in the afternoon, right next to you on the strip is Mac King at Harrah's. He does magic mixed with comedy and is a very good deal. Tickets are around $20, and you can often find coupons around. Penn and Teller are also good, but they're more expensive than those shows by far, and (ironically for an act where half the stars do not speak) way too wordy. Burton and King have a much better pace.

Is your buddy interested in strip clubs? How about good old Vegas jiggle shows?

Shows are expensive.

As close as Mirage is to Flamingo, I will be very surprised if you do not spend every night playing $6-12 there and $4-8 at Bellagio, and then walking back to your room in a drunken stupor at 5am.

I suggest sleeping every day during the day while your buddy is away, and then corrupting him at night.

BTW, as far as food goes, there are good cheap eats at the Chipotle just on the other side of Harrahs. The buffets at Mirage, Alladin, and Bellagio are pricey, but quite good. If you like beer and German food, take a cab to the Hofbrauhaus, and avoid food at Imperial Palace at all costs.

Get the steak quesadillas at the "Tequila's" bar in Bally's. They are the best damn quesadillas I've ever eaten, and I'm from south Texas. Order a Mexican Martini to wash it down, i taught the bartender to make that one... mmmmm.

Funny.

You still might want to convince him to see a solid magic show (like Lance Burton) and a solid jiggle show (La Femme) rather than trying to do both at once.

Still, where else but Vegas are you seeing a topless magic act.
