Really, you wanna trade for a guy who hasn't been in the end zone at all this year...

[/ QUOTE ]

Don't be so short-sighted. Portis has had two 100+ yard games already and a 90 yard ggame as well. The touchdowns will come.

They didn't last year (at least anywhere close to justifying his draft position). We are now at 19 games in the Redskin system with a total of 7 TDs. That's just not worth that much.

[/ QUOTE ]

He'll never get a better 1-1 trade than Portis.

I think he's better keeping the QB insurance as loaded as he is at RB.

Meh, Portis is a level higher than Bulger. You can take Portis, and then flip him for a solid Joe Horn or something, and it's harder to do that with Bulger, or you could get better QB insurance.

People will need Portis as the season goes down, and it's not that bad to pick up a QB on waivers.

I take Portis very quickly here.

Absolute value becomes subordinated by relative value in spots like this. Portis does relatively little to help except as part of a subsequent deal. He risks crippling himself at the QB position, and he has plenty of RB's right now anyways, including enough depth to make a trade.

There are playoff matchup considerations also. In week 15, he'd be thrilled with Palmer vs. Detroit. But in (presumably) championship week 16, he's much better off with Bulger vs San Francisco than Palmer vs Buffalo.

The reasons you mentioned where the ones I was going to bring up for reasons not to go with the trade. I agree.

i took the trade. i thought about it awhile and there is one week i would play bulger(week 10) on palmers bye. so i picked up kyle orton, who is playing the 49ers that week. now i have portis and i think he might play sometimes, which is more then i can say for bulger.
