Re: What do 5/10+ Players Do Better than .5/1 or 1/2 players?
[ QUOTE ]
It's not really anything that hasn't been mentioned before, players are more aggresive, capable of more, think more, do the right things more often than the wrong things, etc... [/ QUOTE ] Interesting that this only changes for 6max. Are the 6max players that much better than the full ring players at 5-10, or is it just that players at this level are finally adjusting to the differences of playing SH (or, in other words, 2-4 6max players are worse than their full ring counterparts)? |

Interesting that this only changes for 6max. [/ QUOTE ] The shorter game simply forces you to respond to your opponents more than just your cards, even when you don't know how... Many players at 2/4, even though they expand their hand range, still play straight forward. |

Re: What do 5/10+ Players Do Better than .5/1 or 1/2 players?
Hey Cero,
[ QUOTE ] I think the very good players at 5/10 and above actively manipulate their opponents into mistakes, rather than just playing their own hands relatively "mistake-free" and relying on unforced errors. [/ QUOTE ] This is really interesting to me. Could you elaborate on this please? Thanks. |

For example, making a weak lead against a player who appears to have a busted hand in hopes that they will attempt a bluff-raise.
Not that I've ever fallen for that, of course... |

What specifically do mid/high stakes players do better at 6max than winning low stakes players? [/ QUOTE ] Have a greater disregard for money in the short term. |

Re: What do 5/10+ Players Do Better than .5/1 or 1/2 players?
People are making 5/10 6-max sound scary but that has not been my experience so far. I log on at night, hop around to tables with 1 or 2 players making big mistakes, get position on them, and try to be clever about extracting the max from them. It's not entirely straightforward, but not too tough either. Staying at one table for a long period can be scary for me though. When the table fills up with regulars, I remember how much studying I still need to do to get money from decent players.

More likely to have solid balance of skill, game selection, and emotional control.
And understand the number one rule. The live ones pay the bills. Its nice to imagine outplaying diablo or strassa or whatever, but why? |
