Re: 7stud hi/lo vs. Omaha hi/lo
I started playing Omaha/8 before Stud/8. I got my first Stud/8 experience playing dealer's choice games at GamesGrid, where the competition was pretty awful. Since then I've starting playing Stud ring games and occasional tournaments.
I've grown to prefer Stud to Omaha, but I'm not entirely sure why. I think that I don't have the right mindset for Omaha; I find it very frustrating to play correctly. It's much easier for me to fold 4th in Stud than the flop in Omaha. Having more information helps, too. I don't mind the brick factor all that much (heck, I play triple draw a lot--- don't tell _me_ about bricking...) I much prefer having a hand I know has gone bad than an ambiguous card on a shared board. |
