Rolled up Kings in a tournament
Hi, I don't visit the stud forum much. I play lots of low buy-in MTTs, but rarely stud. However I was playing the $1 MTT at PokerStars yesterday and I was dealt rolled-up kings just after the 1st break. I'm not sure how well or poorly I played this strong hand. As far as reads on the table, I was by far the tightest player and Seats 3,4,5 were very loose and loved to chase.
Is the slow-playing OK or should I have led out earlier? (Hope the format of the HH is OK). Re: Rolled up Kings in a tournament
In tournaments, especially MTTs, I think you need to come alive a little earlier. I'd complete 3rd. Failing that, I'd raise 5th since it's probably more likely to be 3-bet on 5th than 6th.

I don't play MTT but what about a C'R on 7th given the scary board you are against?

If seats 4,5,6 are bad than I would complete on third and just rope them into coming along with you.

I don't play MTT but what about a C'R on 7th given the scary board you are against? [/ QUOTE ] I don't think so. I try to act such that I guarentee a bet get in. I think this becomes especially important with a finite chip stack. A c/r on 7th may not work because the flush seat slowed down on 6th to a raise. So, I don't know if that's a guarenteed bet. The straight shouldn't bet against a 4 flush. I'd say just bet out and hope the flush is a dope. |
