Re: A theoretical baseball question
[ QUOTE ]
.500 and 100 hrs is ridiculous, you wouldn't see numbers like that off a pitching machine set to the speed of the batter's liking. [/ QUOTE ] This is the most ridiculous thing I have ever seen on these boards |

All I know is that you would see a lot more knuckleball pitchers. [/ QUOTE ] Smart comment. Well appreciated by a baseball enthusiast such as myself. |

[/ QUOTE ] True.. knuckleballers would get more looks... I already spoke about Wakefield in a previous post in this thread talking about how this would have little impact on his pitching numbers. |

But look at some others in the same situation... David Dellucci - .376 Coco Crisp - .374 Jason Ellison - .372 Raul Ibanez - .371 Garrett Atkins - .365 Emil Brown - .359 [/ QUOTE ] You do realize that without the possibility of a strikeout on a pitch, batting averages are going to be pretty high anyway, right? |

Re: A theoretical baseball question
I would like to submit "exhibit A".
Does anyone remember the NLCS in 1989, Giants v. Cubs? Will Clark read a pitchers lips (He was equipped with 20/12 vision...yes, 20/12), and they had a conference on the mound before he came up to bat. He watched intently as the coach talked to the pitcher. First pitch was a low and in fastball that he crushed for a 2 run homer. Later after the game he admitted that he read the lips of the coach who told the pitcher to feed him a low and in fastball on the first pitch, assuming Clark wouldn't expect it. (Low and in fastballs to lefty's are usually the danger zone, so they thought they could sneak an easy strike by him). This is a case of Clark knowing what was coming, and crushing it for a homer. Does anyone else remember this game? I know Cubs fans don't because they aren't knowledgable enough to remember that far back. They only thing they remember pre-Bartman was something about a Goat.. anyone else know what I'm talking about? |
