raising out of the blinds with any ace

Recently, if there's been one limper and I'm in the small blind with any ace, i've been raising. Also been doing it in the big blind if there's only one limper and everyone folds including the sb. Anybody think that this is moderately bad or terrible? Anybody think that it should only be done situationally?

I do it situationally. Loose limper, late open-limp, etc. I don't think you should be raising when a 15/2 limps UTG.

In general, it's not bad as long as you're much better than the limper postflop. I don't know if this describes you. Being out of position with a weak ace puts you at a terrible positional disadvantage that requires a fair amount of skill to overcome.

If you lack the skill, you're probably better off just completing or checking. Lack of skill usually ends up in spewing (usually by betting the worst hand, but it's also in offering too many free cards on the turn).

I will do that if only the SB is in, completing.

Eh, this seems stupid. YOu have to take into account the position of the limper, the quality of hte player in the BB, and how your play measures up to theirs postflop.

Depends a lot on the kind of player the limper is and what position he limped from. For instance, I usually limp AJo-A9o in UTG-MP2 if there are semi-loose players behind me who will limp along with worse aces but fold those same aces if I raise.

Also, I hate raising poor hands in SB (apart from blind steals) since I'm out of position for the rest of the hand and it gets hard to play it.

Especially its hard to get out when you flop the A. Suppose you hold A3, flop gives you the A, you bet out and get raised or just called on the flop. Then what?

I fold A-rag in the SB everytime against a single limper. Maybe I'm passing up on a small edge here, but I'm not good enough post-flop yet to take advantage of it.

I'd rather raise something like T9s in the blind vs. a loose limper than Ax.
