with the new sidebet feature on Party what are the odds that the flop is going to come all one color. if the the payouts are high enough it may present an interesting opportunity to make money on top of playing poker... just something to look into and im not really sure how to calculate it so if someone can post it here that would be cool

I think it's slightly above or slightly below 5%, or 19 to 1.

[/ QUOTE ] Do you really think that Party would offer anything where they have a disadvantage? It's just like any other table game. In this instance for every $100 you bet you should win just over $94 in return in the long run. Don't do it, unless you hate money. |

I don't play at party, so I'm not sure if you bet before or after seeing your cards. However, I will calculate assuming you do it before.
26c3/52c3 or 26/52*25/51*24/50 I know it also pays 8:1. Here's an easy way to show its rigged against you. If you have a coin, the odds of flipping it heads 3 times in a row is 1/8 (1/2)^3. Well, the first card being specifically red is 26/52, or 1/2. Then the next 1 has a red card missing, so its 25/51, or a slightly weighted coinflip. And finally we have 24/50. By a quick look, looks like they have ~5% margine here. |

Then, the odds against three cards of that color coming on the flop is roughly 8-1 (I believe it is about 7.8-1). Party gives the payout as 8 for 1, which may sound like 8-1, but is really 7-1. If you like those odds, you'll love the prop bets at the craps table. Yo!!! |

if you have 2 black cards in hand, then the odds are 26/50*25/49*24/48 which gives you 6% profit i think

Incredibly, I do believe that this guy might be serious. I've met players who were PRETTY SURE that their methods to beat Craps or Roulette or whatever other -EV game were actually working. Some people are just dumb. |
