Re: anybody got a gun?
I just think that its so much easier to make $ in poker. Yah, its not scaleable, but poker has made me lots of $. I cash out money every month and truly enjoy the challenge. Honestly, does anybody in here make their full living on sportsbetting?

Re: anybody got a gun?
On a pure $ basis you probably make more. On a $/hour basis I would argue probably not if your "units" are equal in each and you're equally successful at each.

Sklansky's no genius, he just thinks he is If poker and sports betting is so $$$ for him then why does he spend so much time churning out books?

Re: anybody got a gun?
My thinking is that if you had a massive bankroll to bet sports with, and if you could handle the variance (two very big if's), you could make much much MUCH more per hour betting sports than poker, assuming you are a proven winning player. To go up the ladder in poker and be successful, your play must improve, and it requires many hours to be put in regardless of the limit to grind out profit.
In sports betting, many less hours are required, and a $5 bet stands just as good a chance to win as a $5,000 bet. Just my take on it...thoughts from some of the veterans around here would be appreciated. |

After 3 years of poker the grind gets old so to keep it enjoyable I play more tournys instead of grinding out bb/hr. Sportsbetting for me is more selective and less tedious ... I dont handicapp. I Look for loose lines then watch the coin fliP. Even though its a grind too, I put in less effort with the same expectation of winning. |

Re: anybody got a gun?
Poker is definitely way way more +EV, for the time being.
But is the potential $/hr not better w/ sports, assuming a winning player, a large bankroll and the ability to withstand variance? In theory, you could make, say, 50 humongous bets a year on your best perceived lines...no? This would seem like a viable alternative for someone who meets those qualifications and has a high aversion to doing work. |

Re: anybody got a gun?
Poker has always been very profitable and it always will be. So many people keep saying "right now its good." Just walk in to the Monte Carlo Casino on the strip and talk to some of the long time dealers. Its always been very profitable simply because people in general are very stupid.
