JQs on the flop.
Hey all,
I like JQs, especially when it's spades. That's cause it looks cool. Kinda chunky. So here's a little flop decision for ya that I was pondering. Party Poker 1/2 Hold'em (9 max, 9 handed) converter Preflop: Hero is UTG+1 with J[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], Q[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]. 1 fold, Hero calls, 1 fold, MP2 calls, 2 folds, Button calls, SB completes, BB checks. Flop: (5 SB) T[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 4[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 8[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (5 players) SB checks, BB bets, Hero?? Bet, fold or raise? |

Re: JQs on the flop.
I just peel. I don't think raising is good at this point, the pot is not big enough for me to start cleaning outs and whatever. Plus, you are not in the position to get free card.

Flop: (5 SB) T, 4, 8 (5 players) SB checks, BB bets, Hero?? Bet, fold or raise? [/ QUOTE ] I'm inclined to fold. You have four clean outs to your overcards, which might not win even if you hit, three clean outs to an inside straight draw and are out of position with four opponents. At 6:1 this does not look very attractive. I'm hardly an expert, but I'm putting this out to check my thinking. MKR |

I just call. with 5 players in you would make a lot of money if you hit.

Re: JQs on the flop.
I call. Likely 7 outs here, getting 6 to 1, you're good.

Re: JQs on the flop.
Call. A gutshot, a bdfd, and two overcards make it worthwhile I think.

Re: JQs on the flop.
Hmm, I would value your hand at between 7 to 8 outs for the OC's, gut-shot and bdfd.
I think that a raise would improve your chances of winning if you folded anyone behind you and spiked a pair. However, the pot is still quite small and you could win a lot if you made your straight or unlikely flush. So, I think that I would choose to call BB's flop bet and see what develops. |

Re: JQs on the flop.
I'd definitely raise. It disguises your hand a lot better than a call. You ave a lot of outs to a decent hand, but free cards make me feel warm inside.
Best case you have 4 outs to the straight, 6 to top pair and 1.5 for your bdfd. 8 or 9 outs might be a fair reflection given the hearts. You'll improve to flush draw or better 20-25%(ish) of the time, in which case you can bet the turn. Else you can hope for a free river. |
