How does our answer change if there were 6 people in this preflop and 5/6 go all in and its ur turn to act?

Now I'm getting the right price to fill, so I call. A lower set would screw those up, but if 5 people move in in front of me I figure I am up against a few draws and/or a few people have lost their minds.

But that's like asking "Would you fold AA PF if the entire table moved in in front of you?" It never happens, so why are you trying to create such a situation? Why hunt for and invent situations to fold top set?

actually i do know what it means. i definitely misused the term though. sorry. i should have simply said negative expectation.

well, like i said. i made the call on that ace jack. i wish i hadnt posted the results of the hand because to me they are irrelevant yet im being called on it constantly. yes its hard to just decide someone has an AJ in this situation. i made the call. i estimated there was a 50% chance at minimun someone had AJ. i was wrong.

the issue isnt that my gut told me i would lose the hand. my gut told me i was up against AJ. if i KNEW i was up against AJ, i think it was an easy fold. again, survivor vs accumulator...

But it is a rare day I fold a set with a PP on the flop (probably never will).

its the only time i ever have too. which is why its still haunting me

i am willing to concede that i might have made the wrong play. and i will continue to think about this hand for some time to come. i just dont think its as black and white as some are making it out to be.

Hate the fold, too weak tight.

Heres a hand I had where I thought I may be behind, yet still made the move cuz I knew I had good odds and outs. I probably should have just called the flop and tryed to see another card, but part of me also thought maybe he limped with aces or something.

we wern't given any info about his position, play to up to now, chip count, etc.

[/ QUOTE ]

ive hinted at it, but let me spell it out. tournament had just started. we all had basically our original stake, maybe down 30 from paying blinds. so approx 1500 chips. an early/mid position player limped in for 20. i raised from 20 to 100 on the button. bb calls, early limper calls. 3 people in hand.

not too many hands had been played yet, but i had no reason to believe anyone was a lunatic. if anything the table felt tight.

so theres 310 in the pot when the flop comes down.

after the flop its pretty straight forward. bb is first to act and goes all in. early limper calls all in and im up.

You need to stop overestimating your ability to "outplay" your opponents.

[/ QUOTE ]

i think some of you need to stop assuming you can read the ability and predict how well they do overall, of somebody you know very little about, based on one hand.

With action like this it is not uncommon for someone to be overplaying a hand like A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] K[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] or even worse.

I was confused a bit by the limp and huge reraise, I check raised my hand signifying strength, and he signifys more strength by reraising. In my head, I thought he could either have Axs (with 2 overs, although I sort of pushed that out cuz of the huge reraise), AA, 22, 33, or A4 (hopefully not suited and of spades). I figured I was ahead of all those hands except the A4, and if he had suited cards he had a draw against me. Any other hand I liked my chances, but he flipped over A4 for the wheel on the flop, and I got a good turn to take all his chips.

Still, I couldn't see a reason to fold it, unless I knew for absolute sure I was behind, and even then I might gamble it up.
