Re: Hand to Talk About
[ QUOTE ]
Hi ggbman: Players will sometimes check hands on the river that they shouldn't if they get confused. So while not likely, I think it's possible he might check a king-queen or ace-king. Best wishes, Mason [/ QUOTE ] Hi Mason, I think this is true about 0% of the time given the player. |

Re: Hand to Talk About
Has anyone suggested cap the flop?
In these aggressive HU situations I don't think you can fold top pair... The higher up I've been going (not yet played above 30/60) the more aggressive ppl. get I 've noticed, so the formula: "Make Hand, call down and get paid off" seems to work well... It's just up to you how many bets you want in the pot by the time showdown comes, 'cause you're not folding. And wouldn't the guy want to raise on the turn if he had a big King? Why would he 3- bet the flop w/ it...? (more aggression here indicating a weaker hand that's afraid of the King? or the next card?) And, Mason, what chips (denoms.) you guys use at those limits? I mean how do you bet $160. w/out have to put in like 5 chips? lol (1 black $100, 2 Green $25s, and 2 Red $5s? for 1 big bet? seems awkward...) Just a fun thought we "lowly" 5/10 and 10/20 players don't have to worry about as much... Joe M. |

The answers to all your questions are in previous posts. I suggest reading in "flat" mode, so you can quickly scan previous posts.

Re: Hand to Talk About

Hi Everyone: Here's a hand that I played a few nights ago in the $80-$160 game at The Bellagio. First some background. I had been losing in the game but had just won a big pot from a very loose aggressive player who normally plays in the bigger mixed games. This hand features him again. The game was six handed. The UTG player folded. I raised with K[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]T[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]. The player on my left folded, and the loose aggressive player who was on the button makes it three bets. The blinds fold and I call. The flop is K[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]7[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]2[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]. I check. My opponent bets. I check raise. And my opponent makes it three bets. I call. The turn is the 3[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]. I bet and my opponent calls. The river is the 8[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]. I check. My opponent bets. And I call. All comments are welcome. Best wishes, Mason [/ QUOTE ] Mason, how often would you play a flush draw like this given the player above(or any other hand that nines beat)? I think he played his hand terribly and should have folded the turn. |

Re: Hand to Talk About
I would like masons check with qq or jj but i think a k is way too strong to check the rvr. missing too much value.
and to say a check is right and a bet is wrong is way off, its a pretty close decision. |

Hi Soildier: You may want to relook at the chapter "Head-Up on the End" in The Theory of Poker. best wishes, mason [/ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] Hi Soildier: A turn three bet is clearly wrong in my opinion. Best wishes, Mason [/ QUOTE ] Mason, one more thing. I doubt you are going to reply to this thread again, but if you dont Im gonna PM you... Why do you always type my name wrong when replying to my posts THe first time you ever replied to one of my posts you called me "Soiler" and The Dude noticed it and started calling me that and then others joined in and the nickname stuck. I assumed it was simply a typo. But now twice you call me "Soildier," whats up with that man? |
