Defending against The Sandwich

If you suspect someone is trying to pull "The Sandwich" play quite often at the table, what is the best method to stick it to them.

If you slowplay your big hands they may fold or just call and you let others in cheap. If you raise they may just fold.

Is the best tactic just to limp and go over the top if you suspect a sandwich play no matter what your cards are?
