Default Re: Turn play - too weak?

I like the flop. I'm usually calling the turn. If I'm winning I don't want him to fold. If I'm losing, I think I have to show down no matter what - I don't see myself tossing this one.

Consider this. If this table is one where players aren't coming and going a lot (same players for a long time), this might be a great opportunity to check raise the river. I say this because the C/R may slow down river value betting against you on future hands. Does this sound reasonable?

that isnt a play I usually make but I figure him for overcards - sure he could have a higher pair, but 88 isnt a hand I want to play multiway so I 3bet.

88 is a very nice hand to play in a multi-way pot, esp since you are on the button.. but with only one player in, this is not a multiway pot.

Recently I have been working on NOT cold calling so its really 3-bet or fold with a hand like that.
would you play it differently preflop?

I am a tightass so I'd fold. I generally give UTG and UTG+1 raises some credit until shown otherwise.
