I think you guys who don't think it's close haven't played much Party 1-2. You're going to be shown J-3, K-3, K-4, hell, even K-5 a fair amount of the time. [/ QUOTE ] The fact that those hands are possibilities is exactly why it's not close at all. |

We're talking Party 1-2. These are loose-passives that won't checkraise with less than two pair.

The SB showed J [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] Q [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]
MP showed 9 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 9 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] and the BB, who bet out on every round, showed J [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 2 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], for TP, worst kicker off the flop ...and I took down the pot for net gain of 16.5BB, which I took to Victoria's Secret to buy myself something frilly |

I have the exact same problem as you, Chess. Find it very tough to bet one overpair into three who have called (or made) multiple bets and raises to the river. With the action as it was, I'm thinking K-J is a real possibility for the bb and he's just afraid to bet it again. For the others, I might put them on straight or flush draws that missed, so think I won't get a bet from them anyway. But as the actual play showed, these are really awful players. Can't underestimate the importance of knowing your opponents.

My take is the BB probably re-raises with the K on the turn if he has KJ....
The hand you have to consider that you wouldn't with top players is someone hanging on to A-2 even through all the raising. But that would probably have been bet on the river too. |

I haven't looked at your results yet, but I'll tell you what I think of it.
The main thing that strikes me is BB's action on 4th street. He bets into the raiser, that's a clear signal that the K [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] is important to him. I'll put him on two pair, KJ or also very likely a set of K's (remember he helped you cap pre-flop). Maybe he has K [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] X [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] drawing for a flush and hits top pair. His fail to re-raise on the turn, and check on the river pretty much rules out set of K's, (check-raise is dumb here) he probably had two pair or worse and got scared of your re-raise on 4th. I think checking behind was a good way to save bets on the river. |

How about this: most likely he has a King. [ QUOTE ] I think checking behind was a good way to save bets on the river. [/ QUOTE ] You almost got it right. Just change save to miss. |
