If you're not willing to gamble your whole stack as a 3-1 - 11 to 1 favorite, then you should turn the Aces face up after he raises to $250, laugh, make a crack about how you knew you were beat, take your money, leave the table, and possibly buy in for less.

Really the only mistake is not to 4-bet high enough. As long as you make it 1K or more (with a plan to push the flop) he makes a mistake callling you with anything.

Villain calls. Flop comes K27. Flop comes QT4. Villain now pushes for 2800. I think this puts a player who is uncomfortable with the stakes in a very, very, very tough spot. That's part of the reason why I think pushing may well be the best move in this particular situation.

One thing that I forgot to mention is that I only had this amount of $ for about 10 minutes until this hand came up.

I thought for a minute about this hand. My feeling was exactly along the lines of El D's. I knew I was uncomfortable seeing a flop, and I knew I would have a hard time playing correctly if the flop had anything scary in it. I pushed. He laughed and folded AK face up. I left the casino and bought a 60" TV.

I also like pushing preflop in your situation.

Nice hand.

Genuinely.

Sometimes, your situation included, decreasing variance is far more important than maximizing expectation.

More importantly, losing a bit of expectation to make sure you don't [censored] up brutally for money you can't afford to lose (or just can't bear to lose), is well worth it.

I am not a MHNL player by any means, but am replying to this simply because i was in your exact position (not hand wise but stack wise). I am a 100NL player, and I feel perfectly comfortable up to 200, but after that I KNOW i should not be playing. My BR does not support it, even if I know I am better than the people I am playing against I cannot afford to be outdrawn or make a bad read

I was in a live game about 3 weeks ago, where i bought in 500 and brought that stack up to ~1k within a few hours. I had AA, and was going against the only other stack that had me covered. He turned a gutshot straight on me after I hit a set on the flop. Needless to say i lost everything, and felt that I had did something wrong. Had I been playing at 100NL and made the same move, i would have not even looked back on it as anything but a 4 outer.

Although I am not as experienced as you probably are, I can tell you this: dont play where you are not comfortable.

Cool hand, man. When I take shots at the higher stakes and build up a stack, I feel extremely uncomfortable, just as you did here. I would have reraised to about a grand, which would have been a mistake for me. After reading so many high stakes posts, I sometimes convince myself that "I know what I'm doing," when really I'm freaked out of my mind. I like how you played this.

P.s- I approve of the TV purchase, that's awesome. I bought a lazyboy chair with part of my big win...it's called the "Edwin," and it's amazing.
