Re: How well do your limping hands perform?
Jeff, you rule at limping. Total sample here is 58k hands, it's all shorthanded (except for maybe 200 hands or so) so I don't get to limp much. |

[ QUOTE ]
Being limp sucks [/ QUOTE ] I know you're being serious here, but that's an awfully tempting observation. I don't play online, so I can't use tracking tools. If you play TAG, aren't you less likely to be limping? If the table is loose, you don't want limpers staying in and hitting. Yes, especially in the blinds, there are times I want to see free cards just like everyone else. I'd appreciate comments on my line of thought/confusion. |

Re: How well do your limping hands perform?
well... i was serious and joking with the limp comment, but especially serious, but especially joking.
Seriously, if you're a TAG, you're less likely to be limping. This sample was from last month for me. I was VPIP (voluntarily putting money in the pot, or playing a hand not as a blind) at around 17.5% and pre-flop raising almost 8 percent of the time. Both quite reasonable and in line with my long-term performance and stats from winning players on the "I Hate Tiger Woods" thread. I am playing lower limits (mainly 2/4) than some of the guys here, so I would naturally be limping with a few more speculative hands from later position. The lower limit games feature less raising/aggression preflop and more callers making speculative hands a better play. However, my LwPC number is toward the lower end. LwPC= limp when there are previous callers. My deduction from this is I am probably open-limping a tad too much. Time to review some of Abdul Jalib's work on open-raising pre-flop. |

Re: How well do your limping hands perform?
Thank you. Yes, I'm TAG and the 3/6 table(s) were driving me nuts! I just recently moved to this area from one where I played 5/10 and occasionally 10/20. Here I can only get 3/6 or 4/8.
The 3/6 would (and still does) go 8 or 9 of 10 to the flop. "Ta hell with them raises, I'm gonna see me a danged flop!" I moved to the 4/8 and found much smarter players and have settled in. I still see some chasing but, for the most part, if I'm raising (or somebody else is), the folds seem, to me, to be about right. At 4/8 I see far less "rivering." 4/8 allows me to use more of what I learn here and read. Again, thank you. ****************************************** Avatar assist by Stuey, Avatar god of 2+2 (I told him I'd pass his name around ) |

Re: How well do your limping hands perform?
turns out to be a really cool thread for me...unbeknownst, my pfr% had fallen about 1.2% over last month compared to my big@$$ all-time database. That's 300 more limps right there. I was neglecting to open-raise as often as I should. I stopped raising as much from the button with hands like KJs, QJs, etc in multi-way pots.

Re: How well do your limping hands perform?
Jeff, I don't have PT in front of me so I can't really answer your question. But I can't remember the last times I've limped with 99/88/77/QTs.
