My suggestion would be that the HERO check/call the river because 1) he did not have the nuts, and 2) it was very possible the VILLAIN # 1 was going to the river with a heart draw (as, indeed, he was in this case). By betting into him holding two pair and facing a possible flush you cost yourself two bets instead of one. Check/call is a more conservative approach but one that saves you one big bet. These add up.

It's a shame that others have chosen to flame you with their posts. It was my understanding that this behavior would not be tolerated by two plus two. Ignore these individuals and keep posting.
