2 Biggest Tourneys Each Week For $35 or Less Buy-In?
I began learning poker earlier this summer, and have been playing low limit exclusively. However, I just started playing tournaments (limit and no-limit) for fun. I don't want to spend much money on the tourneys, and I don't have a bunch of time to play them (some evenings and some weekend time), but I DO want to play them to take a shot -- really just for fun and not as a +EV play necessarily -- at the largest tournaments.
So, as the title to this post states, what are the two biggest tourneys I can enter each week for $35 or less buy-in. And I'm not looking for satellite play. Thanks |

The $11R on Stars has a huge prize pool but you could end up spending more than $35.
You could just limit yourself to one initial rebuy and the AO and possibly spend only $31, but oftentimes you will spend at least $51. |

I play the $5000 guarantee $25+2 on Empire. They have a couple each night at 20:00 EST and 23:00 EST.

Ultimate Bet's 10.5K guarantee every night at 10 pm is a good one. $33 to enter and usually a field around 350.
I also agree that if you want to treat the Stars 45K guarantee as a freeze out it is also a great one to play. |

I've been playing a lot of these in that range, and am starting to memorize them. Sounds like you're a weekend warrior like me. I try to focus on the ones with best potential payoff:
Daily: Stars $10+1 at 7:45 p.m. - 10K-15K Party $10+1 at 8:30 p.m. - usually 15K - 20K Party $20+2 at 10:20 p.m. - $40K guar Stars $10+1 REBUY at 10:15 p.m. - 40K-45K guar depending on day; I think you're much better off dedicating $51 than $31. Stars $20+2 at 11:30 p.m. - I think they get @ 800 on weekends, not sure about weekdays. UB has a lot of $5.5 and $11 buy-in guaranteed tourneys, and the fields are much smaller - 350 or so. Blind structure is slower than Stars. Bodog has a 4:30 $16+1 7.5K and 8:30 $11+1 7.5K on weekends. Small fields like UB. Empire doesn't have good tourneys, IMO. |

Seems like they get decent size fields, not huge but not tiny, and their structure is fairly slow given the 20 minute blind levels. |
