Default USB ports on cable boxes?

Does anyone know if these ports function? I have two USB ports on my box.

if it's on a cable modem it's probably a serial console.

if it's on your cable TV converter I have no clue, maybe it's for a DVR.

I assume you're talking about your DVR or cable box.

No. They aren't functional. TI or SA builds them in because they can but none of the cable operators enable them in the US.

You mean Motorola or Scientific Atlanta, not Texas Instruments. Pace boxes are also used in some Time Warner systems, thses ports are not activated in them either.
