Goose thats a pretty loose pre flop call from the sb getting 4.5:1.5 and possibly playing this hand heads up and out of position. As played check/raise the flop and of course lead/3-bet the turn and bet/call the river.

normally i would fold this also, but being that i just sat down at the table i make it a rule to play a little loser, especially in my blinds. Im still not sure about a check/raise here however. I think I should have led out, and if raised, reraise.

I like a checkraise on the flop as well. First, there's a decent chance we have the best hand here. We would also like to see BB and MP1 fold many hands here including any overcards and hands like 7x and 8x. Also, a gut shot would have odds to take one off on the flop for one bet, but not two.

Preflop: Loose call there. If you were in the BB this wouldn't be as bad because of the discount.

Flop: Lead out with a bet!

Turn: Hmm... I'm not sure I like the 3-bet. You're likely to knock out someone who is way behind with this, I'd rather keep them in.

River: Bet-call this.

What are we acomplishing with a check raise?

[/ QUOTE ]

We are thinning the field with likely the best hand, but a vulnerable one. Remember we don't know that we'll spike a jack yet. We still have to worry about any A/K/Q on the turn, but with just the preflop raiser left, a queen for example is less of a scare card. Also, folding gutshots would be a great achievement as it will often clean up our 2-pair outs.

I posted my response blind... now read some of the other responses. I would think you want to lead out with a bet having an OESD and 3 other players in the hand. If CO raises, just call. There's a chance you're ahead here, sure. So I can understand that reason for check-raising, but I think you need something a little stronger to try to play this heads-up. I would prefer more people staying in when I have this OESD here.

Hmm... trying to fold some gutshots and clear out a couple more outs... maybe it'd be better to check-raise. I'll have to think about this more.

giving a preflop raiser a massive range will do that...

i would still check raise this flop though. those numbers just don't show anything

Ya you missed some bets there. Reraise the flop for sure. You could get a queen or 6 to fold here and that's very good. You might even be good (AK/AQ might bet this). Flush draws are calling here no matter what.

I'm going to wait for others to respond about the river, but I would probably call here as well in the moment.

Ok cool so its thinning the field, Seems fine then.

Although OESD, its very tempting to want the guys there to pay us off but i see your reasoning.

Thanks.

We have 10+ outs here with 7 sb's in the pot, we check to preflop raiser he bets giving us 8 sb's..we easily have the outs to call here but we are better off raising. We want to make players with higher cards and better kickers than us fold and we easily have the pot odds to invest in doing this.

Its a strong hand in a big pot, it needs protecting.

Would of folded this pre flop.

I check raise the flop for reasons above.

Yes, I like 3 betting the turn, good work.

I value bet the river.
