Making a move to limit... advice needed.
I'm going to be playing on party, and was a bit indecisive as to whether or not I should start at .50/1 or 1/2. I regular 100NL, so money for these stakes is not really an issue. Would the 1/2 game prep me better for more realistic action? Is .50/1 complete mayhem. Any input/advice would be helpful.
Thanks. |

If you have enough money I'd start at 2/4. 2/4 is easy

Why not just play a session or two of each so you can see for yourself? You'll get a feel for it pretty quickly.
I'd start at 2/4 if you have any skill and you have the bankroll. |

Are the .50/1 and 2/4 games compareable? I don't really have the adequate knowledge of limit to figure it out quickly.

They aren't that different, but again they are very different. .5/1 has more cold-calls pre-flop and more people staying in the whole way. 2/4 tighter with more aggression. As you move up, the aggression keeps going up (not necessarily tighther though. I was watching a guy with 70% VPIP at 100/200 today. |

Re: Making a move to limit... advice needed.
If you play 1/2, try to sit at the 9max tables. For some reason the players seem to be worse than full even though there's only 1 less seat. Maybe I'm being results oriented.
I'd start at .50/1 if I were you, just so you know for yourself whether or not you're ready for 1/2 or 2/4. May as well play a few thousand hands so you understand just how easy it is. |

Pick up a limit book if you haven't already. Read that and play a reasonable stakes where you can fund 300BB w/o pulling your hair out.

Read Small Stakes Hold'em if you haven't already.

Re: Making a move to limit... advice needed.
Start out at .50/1. If that seems easy to you after a decent sample size (at least 1000 hands, given that you're already a veteran NL player), move up as your bankroll allows.
Honestly, there isn't really a whole lot of difference between .50/1 & 2/4, at least on the Party skins. A slightly worse fish:shark ratio as you go higher, obviously, but all 3 limits are very beatable by just playing ABC tight/aggressive poker. |
