Re: AK river bluff
check.
you lost the pot and the backdoor flush isn't gonna scare anyone. maybe if a J or Q had shown up you'd be able to push someone off a hand, but no one's buying that you've got the 2 and probably you're up against a flush draw and a T or an over pair (JJ?)...maybe 99 |

Re: AK river bluff
Ack, I have to admit, the discussion in this thread suggesting that you can't value bet this is confusing after the lengthy discussion about how the microposter is missing value bets which look very similar to this (see here)
It seems that it's mainly the fact that there are 2 callers instead of one and we don't have a pair that is making the difference. |

Re: AK river bluff
You wouldn't bet this if it were just the EP player (who raised preflop) check calling you?

Re: AK river bluff
With 2 opponents, I check this down, especially since their c/c behavior so far indicates a possible flush draw. You could bet this out and get c/r by one of them. Based on their possible read of you as an aggressive player (from your previous hand), I don't see any pair here folding to a bet. If for nothing else, a small pair may call just to see your hand for how to play you in future hands. 1 BB may be worth the price to them.

Re: AK river bluff
the fact that they've check called 2x in a row leads me to believe they've got crap made hands that they are going to hold onto. You almost surely aren't beating both of them, and you almost surely won't fold both of them, so just check through and move on to the next hand. Betting this river is a wasted bet IMO.

You wouldn't bet this if it were just the EP player (who raised preflop) check calling you? [/ QUOTE ] In most cases, I'm not betting this HU. The reason to bet is because you think villain will play AK this way (no preflop cap small pot, check-call flop and turn with no pair) AND you think he is aggressive enough to bet a pair like 99 or KT *somewhere* in this hand. In this very specific case, you win the extra half pot from villain when he folds his AK. In every other case, it doesn't matter. But I would like to have the reason to bet before I bet it. I would rather showdown this hand for free because my hand does not have showdown value if I'm called. I also want to know what hand villain raised UTG+1. (I'm much more inclined to bet KQs on the river than AK.) |

Re: AK river bluff
So you think a worse hand folds and better hand calls this bet?
